Tales of retirement!

Hello! We are Steve and Nikki and these are our travel tales

About Us

We are Steve and Nikki and we have been married since 2001.

We have worked together for 25 years as software consultants, and were lucky enough to enjoy our careers so much that in some cases, it felt like we were on holiday, not working.

In 2024, the stars aligned (well our pension fund did) and we decided we could retire, in Nikki case it was VERY early retirement. Our working life would actually become one long holiday!

We have a simple goal in retiremnt – to make use of our new found free time to see some of the world, and here you will find some of our stories.

Juno Walk

Juno is James and Lucy Dachshund and is 2 years old. As they are all returning home this evening, we decided to spend the day hanging around Dunster.

The Dunster Castle gardens, particularly the river gardens, are so idyllic that we decided on a long walk to try and wear Juno out for the long car journey home.

The Lyn before it reaches the sea

Lynmouth

Lynmouth is a small coastal village in North Devon, just across the border from Somerset, where Exmoor’s wooded valleys meet the sea. Nestled at the foot of steep cliffs and connected to its twin village of Lynton by a historic cliff railway, Lynmouth is known for its dramatic scenery and riverside setting.

Dunster Castle

Perched dramatically on a wooded hill overlooking the picturesque village of Dunster, this majestic castle has been watching over Somerset for more than a thousand years.
